What is Cold Plunge Therapy?

Cold plunge therapy immerses your body in very cold water (typically 3 to 5°C), stimulating the immune, cardiovascular, and endocrine (hormonal) systems. Additional benefits include reduced inflammation and stress, along with improved sleep and overall quality of life.

How Does Cold Plunge Work?

Upon immersing your body in cold water during a plunge, your blood vessels constrict,
reducing blood flow. The constriction limits the release of inflammatory
substances and reduces swelling, which in turn contributes to pain relief. As you exit the
cold water, your blood vessels dilate, allowing increased blood flow away from your core. This rush of fresh blood brings oxygen and nutrients, promoting healing and further reducing inflammation.

The sudden exposure to cold water activates the sympathetic nervous system,
triggering the release of adrenaline and endorphins. These neurotransmitters create an
uplifting sensation and counteract stress hormones like cortisol. The experience can
lead to a sense of calm and relaxation, reducing anxiety levels and leaving you with an
improved mood and mental clarity.

Additionally, the cold plunge activates the body’s immune response, increasing the
production of white blood cells and enhancing the immune system’s overall efficiency.

The Cold Plunge Experience
  • The total invigorating experience takes less than 15 minutes

  • A trained associate will escort you to a private suite, answer any questions and

    depart.

  • Most people prefer to disrobe, or you can wear a bathing suit.

When you’re ready, immerse your body into the icy cold water for a short period

of time. For beginners, 3 minutes is best and up to 5 minutes for experts. Be

prepared: the first 60 seconds can be breathtakingly intense, and some even

describe it as slightly painful. But eventually you start to acclimate to the cold, and later sessions become easier as your body grows more accustomed to the experience.

  • After your plunge, there will be towels in your suite to dry off and a bag for your

    wet bathing suit if needed.

  • Feel the immediate rush of endorphins, boosting your mood and energy levels.
