How Does Cryotherapy Work?

Cryotherapy is a treatment that uses very cold temperatures for a therapeutic, healing effect. Cryotherapy triggers anti-inflammatory responses in the body to keep your core warm. Because of this response, blood concentrates toward the center of your body and outer tissues become constricted. Cryotherapy is commonly used to reduce inflammation and pain.

Athletes have used cryotherapy for ages as a part of their sports medicine regimen to reduce muscle soreness. This use of freezing temperatures has also been used in weight-loss & anti-aging programs, mood enhancement, and as an immunity boost.

The Cryotherapy Experience
  • It takes less than 15 minutes to experience the full benefits of our Cryotherapy chamber and utilize the sub-zero temperatures to deliver powerful cold therapy.

  • A trained associate will escort you to the private cryotherapy suite.  The associate will instruct you, safely monitor, and be available for any questions.

  • Most people choose to wear shorts and sports bras, for the women.

  • We’ll provide cyro chamber ear muffs, socks and gloves to wear during your session.

  • When you’re ready, step into the Cryotherapy chamber. The entire experience in the Cryotherapy chamber will be 3 to 5 minutes, depending on your comfort level.  If you’re concerned about making it through the full 3 minutes, don’t worry! A healthy cold therapy practice may be something you work your way up to, gradually increasing the time you’re able to spend in the chamber during each visit. In general, it will feel like standing outside on an extremely cold winter day!

  • After you get out, you’ll feel energized and alert, and many people experience a boost to their mood.
